How to Make a Vodcast: A Basic Introduction
There are several steps to making a vodcast. The first step is to get hold of the necessary equipment:
- Digital video camera (it has to have the ability to export videos to your computer either using a cable or memory card).
- Computer with lots of hard disk space and a high speed internet connection.
- Video-editing software. Arguably not essential but definitely worthwhile.
- Ability to generate an RSS feed (the vodcast itself) and host it on the internet.
See the links below for more detailed descriptions of the vodcast-creating process, but a rough overview is:
- Record the videos you'd like to present to the vodcast-hungry public. (More than one, because a vodcast is effectively a channel of several recordings.)
- Add some creative and professional touches with your video-editing software.
- Upload your videos to your webspace on the internet and think of descriptions for each of them.
- Create an RSS feed with the links, titles and descriptions of your videos. Check the file is written correctly here. Update this list as and when you do more filming.
- That's it - you've finished. Now tell the world by submitting your vodcast to Vodstock.com and other directories.
